mid-course evaluation

Dear Student,

We are half way through the course and it seems the right time to take stock of the things we've done for the first four weeks.

Could you post a short self-evaluation of your commitment and work? You can consider the following questions:

  • Have you been attending lessons regularly?
  • Have you been participating in class actively?
  • Have you been reading and contributing to the blog?
  • Have you started your individual thread?
  • Do you regularly comment on other students' posts?
  • Do you use the New Cutting Edge CD-Rom as a self-study tool?
  • How much do you self-study outside the classroom?
  • How much extra work do you do to improve your English?

Use the scale from 1-10 (1 -for very poor, 10- for excellent) to evaluate your:

Attendance
Participation
Homework and extra work
Motivation
Blogging

Use the same scale to evaluate your:

Grammar
Reading
Writing
Listening
Speaking

What skill/skills do you need to work more on? What are you planning to do to improve it/them?

Regards,
ralitza

Thanks Fatina for your objective evaluation.

I think you've been far too critical towards yourself. Your participation in class and on the blog has been of very good standard. You clearly express and justify your opinion in your comments.

It's also a very good that you are thinking ahead and planning what you need to do next.

Here is my advice.

There was something I wanted to discuss in class related to the writings on the blog. I'll bring up the issue again tomorrow and when we evaluate posts.

What I think is important is to start summarising, personifying topics and instead of copy paste texts it would be much better if the topic is summarised and then linked to the sites which the interested reader could follow.

Can I suggest you reword your individual thread, tell the story of the tulip in your own words and provide the links (which you did and that is very good)?

Would you agree with me? What might be the reason behind my suggestion?

Thanks a lot for your collaboration. This blog could only prove useful if students make the most of it.

Warm regards,
ralitza
